Cult of Apep

The Cult of Apep is a fanatical group of followers loyal to Apep. Residing in the Sea of Dust, they aspire to bring power and glory to Apep through the destruction of all life. They attract followers from all races, including the enigmatic Draconian.
During the Age of Dragons, the Cult of Apep seized its opportunity to improve their situation. Through their research, they uncovered an ancient alchemical formula that would capture the soul of a living dragon. Created from the waters from the Fountain of Set, this process would enslave the dragon in the form of a dracolich. At a time when the heroes of the realm were desperate for a solution to the invading dragons, the Cult of Apep deceived the heroes into creating grenade weapons that were infused with the power of this formula. They were promised that the weapon would "melt the scales from the dragon's hide". This is exactly what happened, as the first weapon was thrown at the mighty red dragon, Dethenor. With an enormous explosion, the dragon howled in pain as it slumped to the ground. The heroes cheered their victory and began slaying the other dragons that had claimed Borgo Pass as their own.
After the fifth dragon had fallen to the Cult's weapon, something unexpected happened. Clouds darkened the protective rays of the sun as enormous streaks were seen shooting across the sky. At first glance, it appeared that a meteor shower had begun. As they approached closer, it became clear that these were in fact in the form of great dragons, flying through the air at an unbelievable speed. They began to circle the town in ever tighter circles, when finally each dragon form slammed into the corpse of one of the slain dragon's skeletons.
With horror, the heroes watched on as glowing embers began to burn in the hollow eye sockets of the dead beasts. Each dracolich stood on its new legs and looked around. The dragons had been defeated, but at the cost of the creation of these abominations. The Cult of Apep had just announced itself to the world, proclaiming its end.

- A ferocious Green Dragon that hunted the Woods of the Wyvern's Vale was raised.
- A devious Ancient Black Dragon that lurked the dark waters of Port Daris was raised.
